Starting the new year off with a laugh :)

~One of my New Year's goals- blog more. I love to blog and journal my way through this hectic life of mine. It's therapeutic, and as I've mentioned before- I love looking back and reading through the day to day moments I captured in words. Especially when I'm up at 5 am after feeding the baby, with a cup of peppermint mocha and the fire going. :) Cheers, 2015!~

If kids weren't so funny, you'd literally just be crying (or yelling, or pulling your hair out..you get it) all the time.

Just a quick glimpse into a day in the life of my 2 year old girl:

My daughter is a collector. Like…serious, intentional, determined collector. Apparently our house is a never-ending trove of treasures. A 2 year old collector's paradise. I can only imagine what it must be like. She has little pockets of collected goodness distributed in various and sundry hiding places...places I never even knew existed. You never know when you'll uncover 2 long-lost hair bows, 18 cashews, and 6 marker lids, all carefully lined up under the left couch cushion. You never know when you'll stick your foot into a shoe that miraculously contains all the missing pieces of Settlers of Catan. Or when you open the tupperware cabinet and find all the missing soup spoons (I really thought I was going to have to check myself into the loony bin after searching everywhere for those ridiculous spoons). If something random goes missing in our household, the first thing you'll hear is, "HALLIE!!!" 'Nuff said.

I can be in a mid-laundry breakdown, already PO'd about the 5 rounds of wash my poor mildewy clothes have gone through, when I notice a pair of 2T skinny jeans with cotton balls, pink legos, and broken pink crayons stuffed in the pockets.

And yet...... Just when I'm about to yell in my best momzilla voice across the house about how mad I am that half an $8 bin of cashews was dumped under my couch, I notice how delicately and perfectly they are lined up in little rows. I mean, REALLY? Gosh darn it, little girl. I want to yell, but I can't stop cracking up. In this moment, I'm glad you had a fun creative experience using pricey nuts as a learning tool. That sounded weird. Like I said, if they weren't so funny, you'd just cry. All. the. time.

Next week: Parenting...How the most busy season of your life can lead to the laziest moments you've ever had.

Happy new year!

  1. Oh too funny, that sweet little Hallie girl. What an awesome picture - those toothbrushes with the nativity in front of her picture with the "Beautifully Organized" issue of Better Homes underneath the table. She is going to have some amazing organizing skills. Guess it runs in the family! :D Thanks for putting a smile on my face today. Love to you, Rebekah
